2nd Annual Logan Days Photo Contest

DEADLINE EXTENDED to MAY 8, 2008

         The 2nd Annual Logan Days Photo Contest will exhibit the unique features that Southern Illinois has to offer. This competition is open to all amateur photographers and will feature four categories in an attempt to capture a piece of Southern Illinois culture and history.  This year features a new junior division for our young people to show off their talents.

        Photographs will be judged in early May and the winners will be contacted prior to the beginning of Logan Days, May 14th -17th in Murphysboro. Photos will be on display in the museum's Hughes Gallery at 1603 Edith Street in Murphysboro during Logan Days. Winning photos and honorable mentions will be featured in an annual calendar to begin in May 2008. For details, please see information below or contact Linda at logandaysphotos@yahoo.com .

Awards (each category, adult division) 

1^st Place: $50

2^nd Place: $25

3^rd Place: $15

Awards (each category, Junior division--13-17 yr olds)

1st Place: $25

2nd Place: $15

3rd Place: $10

Rules

1.   The photographer must be an amateur (anyone that earns less than 10% of their yearly salary from photography).

2.   Photos must be taken in Southern Illinois.

3.   There is a $5 fee for each photo submitted in the adult category and a $3 fee for each photo submitted in the junior category. Each participant may submit up to 5 photos.

4.   All photographs must be mounted individually on foam core and must be no smaller than 8x10 and no larger than 11x14. No glass, frames, mats, or hangers please.

 How to Enter

Photo submission is preferred at the General John A. Logan Museum or the Murphysboro Chamber of Commerce, but will be accepted by mail at either location.  Please see the addresses below. Entries will not be accepted electronically. Photos must be submitted with the signed Rules Agreement, a submission tag for each photo, and the total entry fee  (see printable forms below). Deadline to submit photos for judging is May 9, 2008.

 If mailing photos, please be sure to include signed rules agreement, entry fee, and attach a submission tag to the back of each photo.
